Find out what you need on your final exam to get the grade you want. Enter your current grade in the class and how much the final counts. Your syllabus usually says something like “Final exam: 20%”, or tap a common weight. If your class adds up points instead, switch to Points class and enter the points you’ve earned, the points possible so far, and what the final is worth. Then pick the grade you’re aiming for. You’ll see the score you need, the best and worst grade you can end up with, the score needed for each letter grade, and what different final scores would do to your grade.
How it works: score needed on the final = (target grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. For example, with 88% now, a final worth 25% and a 90% target: (90 − 88 × 0.75) ÷ 0.25 = 96%. In points mode, score needed = (target % × (points so far + final points) − points earned) ÷ final points. Needed scores are rounded up to the next 0.1% so you don’t fall just short. If homework or projects are still ungraded, your grade going into the final may change, so check again once they’re in.
