Weighing a salaried job against one that pays by the hour? Enter your gross annual salary and the calculator shows the standard hourly rate — salary divided by your paid hours for the year. It also shows two numbers job ads never mention: what you earn per hour actually worked once paid vacation and holidays are taken out, and what you earn per hour at work once an unpaid lunch break is counted. Change hours per week, days per week, paid days off and lunch length to match your own schedule. All figures are gross, before tax and deductions.
How it works: Standard hourly rate = salary ÷ (hours per week × 52), so a 40-hour week is 2,080 paid hours a year. Paid days off do not add money, but they cut the hours you actually work: days worked = days per week × 52 − paid days off, which is why the “actually worked” rate is higher. The “at work” rate adds your unpaid break back into the day, which pulls it down. Salaried roles are often exempt from overtime, so extra hours usually lower these last two figures further.
