Have a floor plan, apartment listing or flooring quote in square feet and need square meters — or the other way round? Pick the direction, then type the total area or tap a common size. Only know the room’s measurements? Switch to Length × width and enter the two sides; the converter multiplies them for you and converts each side too. You get the area in square meters and square feet, plus square yards (how carpet is often priced), acres and hectares for larger lots, and how much flooring to buy with 10% extra for cuts and waste. The chart below the result covers common sizes.

Square feet to square meters chart
1 ft² = 0.0929 m² · 1 m² = 10.764 ft²

How it works: a foot is defined as exactly 0.3048 m, so 1 ft² = 0.3048 × 0.3048 = 0.09290304 m² and 1 m² ≈ 10.764 ft² (multiply square feet by 0.0929, or divide by 10.764). Square yards = ft² ÷ 9, acres = ft² ÷ 43,560 and hectares = m² ÷ 10,000. The +10% flooring figure is a common rule of thumb for cuts and waste — diagonal or patterned layouts often need 15% or more — and listings may measure area differently (walls, balconies, shared space), so treat results as estimates and measure before you buy.
