Need a speech, toast or class presentation to fit a time limit? Type your word count, or paste your script into the box and the words are counted for you. Then pick how fast you talk: slow and careful, normal conversation, a typical presentation or fast. You get the speaking time right away, plus the time at every pace so you can see the range. Switch to Time → words to find how many words to write for a 2, 5 or 10 minute slot. Your script stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
How it works: speaking time = word count ÷ words per minute, and words to write = minutes × words per minute. Most people speak at about 120–150 words per minute in a speech, a little slower than casual chat, and audiobook narrators often read at around 150–160. If you plan to pause for slides or laughs, pick Slow. The page count assumes a double-spaced page of about 250 words. The best check is still to read your script aloud once with a timer.
